Charlotte’s Web is one of the oldest and most well-respected CBD companies in the United States. Based in Colorado, this company is committed to making the highest quality CBD products to help Americans live healthier lives…naturally!
If you’re curious about Charlotte’s Web, keep reading to learn more about how the company got started, their top products, and our thoughts on their top-notch CBD products.
Charlotte’s Web Company Overview
In the not-too-distant past, all forms of the cannabis plant – including hemp – were illegal in the United States. Colorado was one of the first states to legalize the use of medical marijuana in 2000. By 2012, the state had also legalized the use of recreational marijuana. As a result of these measures, Colorado became a haven for cannabis tourism – particularly for people seeking help for medical conditions that were not responding to traditional medicines and treatments.
This history is important to the formation of Charlotte’s Web, as it allowed its founders to develop a strain of hemp that contained high levels of CBD and low levels of THC (the psychoactive component found in marijuana). At the time that the Stanley brothers developed this strain, the production of hemp was illegal in most of the United States. In Colorado, the brothers were able to grow cannabis (including hemp) legally under state law.
The company’s name comes not from the children’s book about a pig and a spider, but from a far more touching real-life tale. Charlotte Figi was an American girl who developed Dravet Syndrome at the age of three. Dravet Syndrome is a severe form of epilepsy that causes Charlotte to have as many as 300 grand mal seizures a week, even with treatment.
Charlotte’s parents learned of another child with Dravet’s Syndrome who had some success with medical marijuana. They began to give her a solution of high CBD marijuana, which reduced her symptoms so much that she had just 4 seizures a month – and could enjoy her life as a child more.
The Figi family originally gave Charlotte a type of cannabis known as R4, which is also high in CBD and low in THC. When their supply of R4 began to run out, they reached out to the Stanley brothers for help. They began to give Charlotte a strain of cannabis that was originally named “Hippie’s Disappointment” (because it is so low in THC). Ultimately, the Stanley Brothers changed the name to Charlotte’s Web in honor of this brave little girl – and their CBD company was born.
Charlotte’s story received national attention, as she and her family became advocates for medical cannabis. Her story inspired families to move to Colorado so that their children could seek treatment. Sadly, Charlotte died in 2020 at the age of 13 – but the hemp strain named after her lives on as one of the most popular brands of CBD in the country.
With hemp now legal under federal law, the Stanley brothers are committed to offering high quality CBD products to the entire country. All of their products are made from industrial hemp grown in Colorado, with no more than 0.3% THC. Each Charlotte’s Web product is independently tested for quality, with a certificate of analysis (COA) available online for customers to review.
Charlotte’s Web is a certified B Corporation, which means that they meet specific standards for transparency and accountability. As a B Corp, Charlotte’s Web is committed to doing good for the community, the environment, their employees, and their customers. In addition, Charlotte’s Web is in the process of obtaining an official USDA Organic Certification.

Charlotte’s Web offers a range of CBD products, including oils and tinctures, topicals, edibles, capsules, and pet CBD. In our online store, you can choose from a selection of Charlotte’s Web CBD liquid capsules, CBD oil CBD gummies, CBD dog chews, and CBD oil for dogs.
Charlotte’s Web CBD Liquid Capsules
Charlotte’s Web CBD Liquid Capsules Overview
One of the easiest ways to take a precise amount of CBD is when it is encapsulated. Charlotte’s Web CBD Liquid Capsules allow you to take full advantage of the wellness benefits of CBD oil, while getting a specific amount (25 mg) of CBD per capsule. Each bottle contains 60 capsules and a total of 1,500 mg of CBD.
While CBD does not have an unpleasant taste, its earthy flavor isn’t a hit with everyone. Taking CBD in capsule form means that you won’t have to deal with any flavors that you might not enjoy.
These capsules contain just two ingredients: full spectrum CBD and organic extra virgin olive oil. Full spectrum CBD means that you are getting this cannabinoid in its purest form – as close to the whole plant as you can get. Because full spectrum CBD contains all of the beneficial compounds of the hemp plant (including flavonoids, terpenes, essential fatty acids, and trace amounts of THC), you may even benefit from the entourage effect, which occurs when these compounds work together to produce a greater effect.
Like all Charlotte’s Web products, the CBD Liquid Capsules are certified by the U.S. Hemp Authority, gluten-free, kosher, vegan, and allergen-free. The CBD is extracted from the hemp plant using CO2, which is generally considered the safest process.
Charlotte’s Web CBD Liquid Capsules are easy to take. Simply take a capsule (or two) at the same time every day. Because the CBD liquid is encased in a smooth capsule, they are incredibly easy to swallow. These capsules are designed to break down more quickly, so that it may work more quickly than other types of softgels.
Our Review of Charlotte’s Web CBD Liquid Capsules
We are huge fans of Charlotte’s Web CBD Liquid Capsules for several reasons. First, they are easy to take – no fussing with droppers or trying to guess how much we are taking. With our hectic lifestyle, it’s nice to not have to worry about getting a measured amount when we are rushing to get ready in the morning.
Second, while we can appreciate the natural flavor of CBD, it isn’t always something that we want to taste first thing in the morning. These capsules let us get all of the benefits of CBD without having to hold an oil under our tongues for 20 seconds or longer.
Third (and most importantly), these capsules work! Running an online store means that we spend more time sitting in front of a computer than we would like. This can lead to a lot of lower back soreness. Taking a Charlotte’s Web CBD capsule daily has helped to ease these minor strains – and live a more active life.
Charlotte’s Web CBD Oil
Charlotte’s Web CBD Oil Overview
The fastest way to experience the effects of CBD is to take it sublingually, or under your tongue. If you want quick relief, Charlotte’s Web CBD Oil is the way to go.
Extracted from full spectrum CBD using a small batch alcohol process, this oil is suspended in fractionated coconut oil (MCT oil). It comes in 2 flavors – mint chocolate and orange blossom.
Depending on your needs, you may choose from 3 concentrations:
- 1500 mg per bottle/50 mg per serving;
- 500 mg per bottle/17 mg per serving; or
- 200 mg per bottle/7 mg per serving
The 50 mg concentration is the “original formula” – the one used by Charlotte Figi. It is one of the oldest and best-established CBD oils in the country.
A serving of this oil is the equivalent of a “full dropper,” which is about half of the dropper. After consulting with your doctor, you can determine what serving size of CBD oil is right for you (typically starting with a lower amount and working up from there). The oil should be taken at the same time every day.
This full spectrum product contains CBD, plus naturally-occurring phytocannabinoids, terpenes, and essential fatty acids. It is made from American-grown hemp certified by the U.S. Hemp Authority. Like all Charlotte’s Web CBD products, its CBD oil is independently tested to ensure quality and safety.
Our Review of Charlotte’s Web CBD Oil
Like many Americans, we first became aware of the healing properties of CBD through Charlotte’s Web. For this reason, we were eager to give its CBD Oil a try. We use the original formula in the mint chocolate flavor, with 50 mg of CBD per serving.
This flavored CBD oil is easy to take, with a delicious mint chocolate flavor. While you won’t mistake it for a scoop of your favorite ice cream or even a York peppermint patty, you definitely won’t have to hold your nose to take this CBD oil. The flavor hits that perfect note of being tasty without seeming artificial.
One of our team members struggles to unwind, particularly after a long day of working while managing remote school for her kids. She has found that taking this oil in the morning really helps her mind and body relax. After almost a year of daily use, she reports that her stress levels have evened out – and she feels better than ever!
Charlotte’s Web CBD Gummies
Charlotte’s Web CBD Gummies Overview
If you were a fan of fruit snacks as a kid, then you might like taking your CBD in gummy form. Enter Charlotte’s Web CBD Gummies – one of the best ways to get your daily serving of CBD.
These gummies have 5 mg of CBD each, for a total of 300 mg per container. They are made with full spectrum CBD, which means that you may benefit from the entourage effect. There are three flavors available: raspberry (sleep), lemon lime (calm), and ginger (recovery).
Charlotte’s Web CBD gummies contain whole plant extracts. Depending on the flavor, they also contain melatonin (raspberry/sleep), ginger and turmeric (ginger/recovery), or lemon balm (lemon lime/calm). They are flavored with natural fruits and vegetables, so there is nothing artificial in these gummies.
In addition, Charlotte’s Web CBD gummies are made from non-GMO hemp grown in the United States. The gummies are gluten-free and vegan, making them a great choice for almost anyone.
Our Review of Charlotte’s Web CBD Gummies
We won’t mince words – Charlotte’s Web CBD gummies are the best tasting CBD gummies we have tried. Whether we take a raspberry gummy before bed, a lemon lime gummy in times of high stress, or a ginger gummy after a hard workout, we love how they taste.
One Green Wellness Life employee jumped on the Peloton bandwagon during the pandemic. Working out daily after being sedentary caused a lot of aches and pains. A CBD newbie, she began to take two ginger gummies each morning to boost her recovery.
In her words, “These gummies have really helped me stay on track with my new exercise routine. Before I started taking them, I was slow to get up in the morning, dreading my work out. After taking Charlotte’s Web ginger CBD gummies for a few weeks, I have found that I am just not as sore as I was before. This has allowed me to push harder – and even set some personal records on the bike!”
Charlotte’s Web CBD Chews for Dogs
Charlotte’s Web CBD Chews for Dogs Overview
CBD isn’t just for people! All mammals have an endocannabinoid system (ECS), which is responsible for maintaining balance in the body. CBD may interact with the ECS to produce certain benefits – which is why our four-legged friends can also enjoy CBD.
One of the best ways to get your dog to take CBD is by giving them Charlotte’s Web CBD Chews for Dogs. Each chew contains 2.5 mg of CBD. With 30 chews per bag, there is a total of 75 mg of CBD in each container.
These dog chews have a chicken flavor, which means that your pup will be all-too-happy to get their daily CBD. They come in two formulations:
- Senior: designed for older dogs to support cognitive function, these chews contain full spectrum CBD, vitamin E, elderberry powder, and two types of essential fatty acids (DHA and EPA)
- Calm: made to calm high-strung, anxious, or hyper dogs, these chews contain broad spectrum CBD, valerian root, passion flower extract and chamomile. Broad spectrum CBD is similar to full spectrum CBD in that it contains all of the beneficial compounds of the hemp plant – minus the THC. It may also be referred to as THC-free or 0% THC.
While you should check with your vet before giving your dog CBD, the recommended serving size for these chews is 1-2 treats per day for small dogs (under 25 lbs), 2-3 treats per day for medium dogs (25 to 75 lbs), and 3-4 treats for large dogs (70+ lbs). These chews should only be given to adult dogs – not puppies.
Our Review of Charlotte’s Web CBD Chews for Dogs
At Green Wellness Life, we love our pooches – even if they sometimes drive us up a wall! Take Rizzo, for example. Rizzo is an amazing dog…who just so happens to lose his mind whenever he sees any person or animal when looking out of the large window in his living room.
Rizzo’s mom was sick of being interrupted with furious barking and was worried about the neighbors getting mad about all of the noise. She started giving him 3 calm CBD chews per day, after consulting with Rizzo’s vet. She says that she has seen a noticeable difference – Rizzo is far less agitated when a squirrel comes into his yard, when the mailman steps onto the porch, or when he hears a doorbell ring on the TV. The result is a much calmer dog – and a happier family!
Charlotte’s Web Hemp CBD Extract for Dogs
Charlotte’s Web Hemp CBD Extract for Dogs Overview
CBD chews are great – but they can get expensive after a while. If you are looking for an easy, less pricey option for CBD for your dog, consider Charlotte’s Web Hemp CBD Extract for Dogs. With 30 mg of CBD per fluid ounce, each bottle contains 500 mg of CBD.
This CBD oil is chicken-flavored, with full spectrum CBD oil suspended fractionated coconut oil. Each serving (4 pumps) contains 17 mg of CBD. Charlotte’s Web recommends 1 pump of oil for small dogs (under 25 pounds), 1 – 2 pumps for medium dogs (25 – 75 pounds) and 2-4 pumps for big dogs (more than 75 pounds). This oil is not recommended for cats.
To give Charlotte’s Web Hemp CBD Extract for Dogs to your pup, just put the desired number of pumps onto their food – or directly into their mouth. Because it contains natural chicken flavors, most dogs love the taste of this oil.
As with other Charlotte’s Web products, this oil is made from American grown hemp that is certified by the U.S. Hemp Authority. It is also certified by the National Animal Supplement Council. This oil has been independently tested, with results available for your review online.
Our Review of Charlotte’s Web Hemp CBD Extract for Dogs
When we first got this product in stock, we were a bit skeptical. Would our dogs really eat this CBD oil? We know that the grassy taste of CBD can be off-putting for people – so how would our fur babies feel about it?
Bottom line: they love it, and it works. One of our employees’ dogs, Molly, struggles with skin irritation. We took her to the vet, changed her diet, and even tried new dog shampoos. Nothing worked – until we added this oil to her diet.
With just 2 pumps of oil into her dinner every day, Molly is like a new dog. Her skin no longer looks red and inflamed. Instead, her coat is smooth and glossy – and she isn’t constantly licking at her irritated skin. We are definitely converts and plan to give Molly this oil for years to come.
